Designing purposeful offsites for global teams.
Go beyond a meeting in a new place. Build a team.
Go-to-Market (GTM) team, Google
Opportunity Statement:
A global team consisting of 70+ people met for the first time in 3 years after Covid for a 3-day onsite. The global team consisted of several sub-teams and worked in silos and wanted to grow interaction and connection. The team was looking to strengthen the team connection for a psychologically safe, open and supportive environment to establish trust and enhance productivity and for everyone to have a buy-in with the newly established vision & mission.
Our Approach:
- Pre-event: Rally team’s engagement activities to get excitement for the team’s offsite and welcome package to surprise team members in their hotel room.
- Event:
- Elements of surprises, using prompts from pre-event engagement methods, upon participants' arrivals.
- Tailored facilitation design for connection activities
- Tailored facilitated experience for team’s vision, mission and values
- Post-event: Evaluation form to measure the impact (designed by Google team)
Impact:
- Connection: Participants felt connected as one team and more excited to be on the team.
- Culture: Participants established how to bring the team's mission, purpose, values to life.
- Purpose: Participants felt connected to a bigger purpose: “I am part of shaping something big”
- Bigger picture: Participants had a better understanding of where the team sits in the organization and its role in driving towards the future vision.
